The ComfortRead Reading Ruler Magnifier from Bakker Elkhuizen offers copy magnification up to 2.3X. This slim acrylic bar slides across materials with ease and is held in place via magnets. The ComfortRead provides variable magnification (minimum when centered directly over the line, greater as the magnifier is moved higher), letting the viewer determine what is most comfortable for their eyes and position. In addition, by employing multiple prisms it also facilitates viewing of text that is angled away from the eyes, providing a view that is more natural and with minimized perspective distortion. Because it incorporates multiple prisms it can accommodate a very wide range of viewing angles.
The ComfortRead was designed for use on Bakker's FlexDesk 640 and FlexDesk630 document holder writing slope devices but can also be mounted and used on other similar items from other manufacturers. On the Bakker FlexDesk models the magnets embedded in each end engage with the metal glides under the adjustable writing surface, holding the guide firmly in place over documents. Once the magnets are positioned over the metal tracks the ComfortRead easily slides up or down the page to highlight and magnify any given line of text. While the ComfortRead was designed for the FlexDesk models, Bakker also took into consideration that those who already owned similar products from other manufacturers might also wish to have a magnifying line guide. For that reason the ComfortRead also includes 2 adhesive-backed metal strips. Application of these strips to the underside of other similar document holders or writing slopes lets the ComfortRead be utilized equally well.
Note: The metal strips must be mounted about 15.5" apart in order for the magnets to have sufficient holding power.
